An Indian wedding in Langkawi: which resorts have the space, and what you'll bring in
What an Indian wedding with several events needs from a Langkawi resort: a ballroom, a beach and a block of guest rooms. Here is which resorts publish rooms big enough, and the questions to settle with each before you book.
Capacities on this page are what each resort publishes for its largest room, first read on 24 September 2026 and checked again on each resort's own page on 4 October 2026. They are not quotes. Confirm everything with the resort before you book.
What an Indian resort wedding on Langkawi usually needs
If your wedding has several events, such as a sangeet or mehendi evening, the ceremony and a reception, with a block of rooms for family flying in, you need four things from a resort:
- A ballroom or large function room for the sangeet and reception.
- A beach or lawn for the ceremony and mandap, with a rain plan.
- A kitchen that can cook Indian food at scale, including vegetarian and, for some families, Jain menus, or permission to bring in an outside Indian caterer.
- Enough guest rooms, and group terms that work for relatives.
Which resorts publish rooms big enough
Seated (banquet) capacity of each resort's largest published room, from the resort's own pages:
| Resort | Largest room | Seated | Standing or cocktail |
|---|---|---|---|
| Berjaya Langkawi Resort | Ballroom | 500 | 900 cocktail |
| Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa, Langkawi | Pelangi Grand Ballroom | 420 | 700 cocktail |
| PARKROYAL Langkawi Resort | Garden Ballroom | 400 | 600 cocktail |
| Aloft Langkawi Pantai Tengah | Grand Ballroom | 300 | 300 reception |
| The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi | Dewan Sultan Abdul Halim (Grand Ballroom) | 240 | 380 reception |
| The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa | Westin Grand Ballroom | 180 | 400 reception |
| The St. Regis Langkawi | The Astor Ballroom | 160 | 200 reception |
| Four Seasons Resort Langkawi | Serai Beach (outdoor) | 120 | 130 reception |
| The Danna Langkawi | The Lawn (outdoor) | 100 | Beachfront 100 reception |
The Datai doesn't publish a seated figure on its weddings page.
A wedding of 300 or more seated guests narrows the list to four resorts on published figures. For 150-250 guests there are more options, and the choice turns on the beach, the rooms and the kitchen.
What resorts don't publish, and you should ask
No resort's wedding pages answer these, so ask each one in writing:
- Food: Is the kitchen halal-certified by JAKIM, or does it only use halal ingredients? Can it cook Indian vegetarian and Jain menus for your numbers? Can an outside Indian caterer serve, and at what fee?
- Ceremony: Is a Hindu fire ceremony allowed on the beach and indoors? Can a mandap be built on the beach, and who supplies it?
- Music and noise: Are dhol, a DJ or live music allowed outdoors, and until what time?
- Outside vendors: Which outside vendors are allowed (decor, mandap, caterer, music, photographer), and is there a fee per vendor or per set-up?
- Rooms: What is the minimum room block, the minimum stay, the group rate, and the cut-off date for releasing unsold rooms?
- Rain: What's the indoor backup for a beach ceremony, and when do you have to decide?
Vendors from outside the island
If you plan to bring in mandap and decor, Indian caterers or musicians from Penang, Kuala Lumpur or India, check first that each resort allows outside vendors and what it charges for them. Which vendors do this, and at what cost, is still being checked. We'll list them here once we have confirmed it from their own pages.
